Bamag U7. The Berlin gas lantern.
It was a cityscape feature in Berlin, and it was an event when these lanterns - some of which were installed in four rows on Charlottenburg and Zehlendorf streets - flared up at dusk. Berlin's gas lanterns, of which 22,000 were installed at one time, have been dismantled for a decade and replaced by electric lights.
